Project
Survival Mission Statement

Project
Survival, Cat Conservation Group, is dedicated to helping
researchers and conservationists in their efforts to study
and protect wild cats. Its goal is to engage the support
of like-minded individuals, though education, and channel
it directly to specific projects. While focusing on North,
Central and South America, Project Survival intends to
assist individuals around the world.
Project Survival is
an innovative 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which
advances wild cat conservation by harnessing the power
of education. The organization supports wild life
specialists through grant writing, fundraising and the
donation of equipment and supplies. These efforts are designed
to further our understanding of captive husbandry and the
effective management of wild populations.
Project Survival recently
launched two major programs designed to fund cat conservation
into the next millennium. The first, called 'Protect
the Jaguar', is creating an endowment specifically for
jaguar conservation. The second is the establishment
of endowments to fund education and research projects involving
a variety of wild cat species in four geographical areas:
Central and South America, Africa, Asia and North America.
Project Survival is
located at the Project Survival's Cat Haven, an educational
facility located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas
just west of King's Canyon National Park. This is
'base camp' for the organization, where it is engaged in
a grass-roots effort to involve children and adults with
front-line conservation in countries as diverse as South
Africa, Paraguay, Brazil and Mongolia.
The organization publishes
a quarterly newsletter updating its members with news of
the projects they support, including original articles
by field researchers.
Significant advances can be made with limited, consistent funding
of well-defined projects.
